This series, from 1997, explores the use of pictures to create mental landscapes. I use fragments of photographic, diagrammatic, and typographical visual information stripped from their conventional contexts. I juxtapose this information to make collaged objects that act as a visual metaphor for the idea of consumption as part of the human condition.
The subject matter plays a dual role in each piece by asserting it's meaning through functions of the public and private self.
As a group of 15 objects, this series creates a visual and literal poetic that comments on the reciprocal relationships we share with each other and our surroundings.
